Professor and Senior  Research  Scientist  at the Volcano Observatory, University of Colima, México

PhD in Physics and Mathematics on "Volcanic Seismology" (1978) from the Moscow Institute of Physics of the Earth, Soviet Academy of Sciences. Worked on seismicity of Kamchatkan and Mexican subduction zones, seismic risk and microzoning, and volcanic seismology. Research scientist at the Institute of Volcanology, Kamchatka, Soviet Union (1966-1996); lectureship and research scientist at Colima University, México from 1996; visiting professor at Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, México; Tokyo and Hokkaido Universities, Japan. Studied the nature of different types of volcanic earthquakes related with the eruptions of various Kamchatkan, Kurile, Japanese, and Mexican volcanoes; author of two books in Volcanic Seismology: Source Dynamics of Volcanic Earthquakes, Nauka, Moscow, 1979 (in Russian); Introduction to Volcanic Seismology, Elsevier, Amsterdam, 2003. Has been in Colima, México since January 1996.

Prof. Zobin is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for Volcán de Colima, Colima, México.
